I used mine shown at the top of the post all summer longer for the farmers markers and a grocery store and it still holds it original shape.

We have several color schemes on hand we can make, but can take request. Each bag is $40. It takes about two weeks to make once ordered.

Making a Feather from Ribbon

Hello everyone, pull up a chair to the fire on the cold and rain day and we will learn how to make feathers from ribbon.

First let's gather our supplies. You will need, 2" wide ribbon of any color x length depending how long you want feather, double sided tape, wire, scissors, and tweezers.

Now let's make a feather. First you will need to cut two strips of ribbon the length of the feather you want. I did mine about 6". Placing the shiny side down run a strip of double sided tape along one of the ribbon. Next cut a piece of wire the length of you feather plus 2" and place on the double sided tape. Then lay the other piece of ribbon top at the edge of the ribbon, so you should let's say a 4"x6" box. Then on the ruff side of the ribbon you draw a ruff outline of you're feather.

Next we cut out our feather from the sketch. It does not have to be perfect as it is a feather and feathers are not perfect. You want to have a little bit of bumps and nicks.

Now it's time to really create the feather. Starting from the outer edge you want to get a hold of the cross tread and give it a little tug. You may need the tweezers, or a small needle for this. Once it gets started it should go pretty easy. Take it in to the middle at the double sided tape but no further. Do the same for the other side.

To finish it off we just need to add some nice beads to the wire to hide it and you are all set.

Hope you enjoy this and we look forward to seeing you next time.

Deer Crayon Drip

Our first piece of artwork is a crayon drip.

Though I did enjoy doing this piece of artwork, next time I do one, I would do a smaller piece and choose my color's more carefully and not do a full 24 count crayon pack. The color's seem to blend to close and are to many for one picture.

For this picture though I started with a blank white canvas. I added vinyl die cut outs that had been cut out using my Tim Holtz Vagabond 2 machine and placed them on the canvas. It was then painted with dark green acrylic paint and let set for 24 hours.

Next a 24 pack of crayons where cut down to 3" each and hot glued along the top of the painting. Once secured a heat gun was waved across the crayons back and forth as they dripped down the painting. When the effect I was looking for was accomplished it was left to sit and cure for another 24 hours.

I then peeled the vinyl images off being sure not to damage the crayon areas. Thus creating the outline of the fence, deer and snowflakes among the crayon drips.
